MAN ARRESTED AFTER POLICE TIRE SLASHED
AN 18-year-old man has been charged with slashing a tire on a police cruiser.
The Winnipeg Police Service said Tuesday that officers went to a home on the 100 block of Furby Street just before 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, where they were met at the door by a "hostile" man who was not involved in the original complaint.
Officers got inside the home, but the man continued to act aggressively, police said. After he was told to leave, the man threatened to slash the tires on the officer's cruiser.
When the police returned to their vehicle, they saw that one of the tires had been slashed multiple times.
A concerned citizen who witnessed the incident gave police a description of the suspect and said he still had a knife.
Police found the suspect walking on Furby and had to use their Tasers to take him into custody. Officers also seized a knife.
The man has been charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer, uttering threats, possession of a weapon and mischief under $5,000.
