Winnipegger takes lead role in Crave sports comedy

Winnipeg's Jess Salgueiro stars in Slo Pitch. The documentary series focuses on a queer beer-league softball team.

JESS SALGUEIRO

JESS Salgueiro loves to root for an underdog.

Underdogs such as the Broyales, the queer beer-softball team at the centre of the new mockumentary series Slo Pitch, which makes its start on Crave Friday. Or her character, the messy but determined Coach Josie, who is trying to turn her team around.

Or her hometown of Winnipeg, that scrappy underdog of the prairies.
