July 3, 1964 - October 19, 2026

Walter DeVries passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 19, 2026. A man with a truly big heart, Walter cared deeply for everyone around him. He was happiest spending time at his lake, out fishing, watching movies, and cheering loud for his Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Above all, his greatest joy was being a devoted Papa to Xavien.

Walter is lovingly remembered by his sons, Alex (Brandi) and Trevor; grandson Xavien; sister Teresa (Bruce) Schmidt; niece Jenna (Sean) Bihun and their kids, Nolan, Aiden and Audrey; nephew Daniel Schmidt; the mother of his children Darlene DeVries; and many extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Anne DeVries.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 30, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to CancerCare Manitoba.
