Kristjan Valdimar Johnson

Kristjan Valdimar Johnson

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kristjan Valdimar Johnson on September 30, 2026, one day after his 84th birthday.

Dad was predeceased by his parents, Kristjan and Gudlaug; his brother Halli; niece Kimberley; nephew Sammy Duane; brother-in-law John and sisters-in-law, Patsy and Lynn.

He leaves to mourn his loving family, including his wife Gina, and his four children, Krisandra (Dean) and her children, Daniel (Meghan) and great-grandson Jack, Autumn (Evan) and Lily (Nathanu); Korrena and her children, Karissa (Fred), Kailey (Marc) and Mitchel; Brooke (Clayton) and her children, Lakyn and Lennox; and Konrad. He is also survived by his siblings, Colleen (Garry), Clayton (Donna), Myles, Audrey, Pat (Archie), Pam, Cheryl, Carole and Clint (Marilyn); sister-in-law Bev; his uncle Robert Eastman; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dad was a proud Icelander, born near Riverton, Manitoba. His life and career took him many remarkable places, but his work ethic, humility and willingness to help others were rooted in the family farm where he grew up. Those traits stayed with him his entire life. He always greeted guests at the door, was the first to toast the chef, walked you out and thanked you for your company. He showed gratitude in everything he did, each and every day. What a role model we had.

Above all else, family was the centre of Dad's world. We were blessed with a dad who always put us first. A devoted father and Afi, he was present, gentle and affectionate, and took immense pride in the lives and accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. His encouragement and confidence in each of us have made all the difference in our lives and we are forever grateful for him.

Dad never asked for much. He loved a blue sky and a glass of whiskey, but most of all he loved us. We love you Dad, and will keep you in our hearts always.

Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Dad's wishes, there will not be a service. A small family burial will be held at a later date.
