DOROTHY MAY PLETT

DOROTHY MAY PLETT

January 21, 1928 - October 10, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and best friend, after a brief illness. Peacefully surrounded by the love of her family, Dorothy said farewell to all whom were dear to her on October 10, 2026.

Having six other siblings, family was at the center of Mom’s world. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Peter (2018), parents, George and Sarah Bramley, siblings, George (Margaret), Margaret (Richard), Audrey (Harold), Robert (Carol), Joan, Baby Bramley, daughter-in-law (Kim) as well as Peter’s siblings and their spouses. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Kurt Plett and her daughter, Debbie Plett and Debbie’s husband, Ron Yurkowski. Dorothy leaves behind many nieces and nephews; her memory will remain a treasured part of the Plett/Bramley family story.

Mom’s life began in Winnipeg and she carried that connection with her throughout her long and meaningful life. She completed her high school education at Daniel McIntyre Collegiate, establishing the foundation for a life filled with responsibility, love and devotion to others. Those who knew Mom would describe her as loving, generous and a one-of-a-kind individual. Qualities that shaped her life in many ways.

Her working career began and ended with the Royal Bank of Canada, a full-circle journey that reflected her loyalty and professionalism. In between those years, Mom stepped away from the workforce to raise her children, a role she cherished with deep love and commitment. She also worked for a time as a secretary for a locally owned insurance agency, and later found great fulfillment as the administrative assistant at Augustine United Church. Eventually, Mom returned to the Royal Bank, where she enjoyed the final chapter of her career.

Mom’s talents and interests brought comfort and joy to countless people over the years. She knitted faithfully for the local West End Elementary Schools and the Christmas Cheer Board, creating sweaters, toques, scarves and mittens for many children over the course of 35 years. That long commitment reflected her generous spirit and her desire to help others in practical and heartfelt ways.

Mom was an exceptional cook and many family memories were made around her table. Her homemade cookies, cakes, pies, muffins, cupcakes, and especially her cinnamon buns were sure to put a smile on everyone’s face.

Mom and Dad also found great happiness in gardening at home and at the family cottage. Summer was her favourite time of year, and both would travel back and forth to the cottage at Dogtooth Lake in Ontario. At the lake, she made many dear friends and always looked forward to socializing, group dinners, blueberry picking and fishing. Try as she may mom never did master water-skiing or catch that illusive big Walleye; Dogtooth Lake became a place where Mom was at peace, surrounded by the connections she valued most, with good friends and family nearby. The lake was a place that reflected her love of the outdoors and desire for creating a welcoming summer home.

Mom will be remembered as a woman of compassion, kindness and strength. Her life left a lasting impression on all who knew her, and her memory will continue to be treasured by those she loved and those who loved her in return.

Mom and family were very appreciative of the exceptional care and friendship she received from the staff at Concordia Place.

Cremation has taken place and a private outdoor service is being held at Brookside Cemetery. A gathering to remember Dorothy will be held at a later time.

If friends wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christmas Cheer Board, Concordia Foundation or a charity of your choice.

Mom, you will always be in our hearts, We love you, we miss you, we always will.
