RUTH SKWARK

March 24, 1931 - September 23, 2026

Ruth Skwark passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026, at 95 years of age, with her family by her side. From an early age Ruth was interested in music and played the violin, mandolin, and balalaika, performing at the canteen at the Lithuanian Hall on Friday nights. She also enjoyed sports, and in her youth, she played both baseball and basketball. She met her future husband, Mike Skwark, while they were both in high school and he was her basketball coach. Ruth was happily married to Mike for 67 years until his death in 2020.

Ruth was a loving person who devoted herself to her family, and her family was devoted to her in return.

Throughout her life Ruth spent most of her time helping, feeding, shopping for, listening to, advising, and laughing with her family. She would drop everything if anyone needed her. She also loved dancing and fashion and funny stories and friends. It was her joy that her family had grown so much over the years and despite living all over North America, everyone stayed in touch with her to the end.

Ruth is survived by her dear sister, Penny Esaruk with whom she shared a close and special friendship, her three children who were the pride of her life, David Skwark (Vivian), Brenda Reaves and Kelli Skwark (Rob Gereghty), five beloved grandchildren, Ryan Reaves (Alanna), Jordan Reaves (Jessie), Mike Skwark (Cassidy), Meaghan Carrier (Shawn), and Cole Gereghty (Mady), and seven wonderful great-grandchildren, Kanen, Kamilla, Kenzie, Brynn, Rylee, Kaia and Winter. Ruth is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Victor Jasper and sisters-in-law Darlene Jasper and Mary Pidzamecky and brothers-in-law Karl Pidzamecky and Peter Esaruk.

In her last few years, Ruth also enjoyed the company of Marilyn and Melita who were unfailing in their care and compassion. Once she had to move from her home, she missed her grand-dogs Izzy and Rocco. However, she continued to enjoy many visits and phone calls from her family and checking out the photos of all the great-grandchildren always made her smile.

Ruth was a special gift to her family and friends and our memories of her will be cherished forever. As myliu tave, Ruth.

In accordance with her wishes, there will not be a funeral service.
