POLICE SEEK TO ID PAIR IN ARSON PROBE
Winnipeg Police Service detectives are asking the public to help them identify two people of interest in a North Point Douglas arson investigation. The fire in a one-and-a-half storey house, on the 0-100 block of Granville Street early on Sept. 28, sent one person to hospital. On Friday, police put out a photograph of two people, who appear to be youths or young adults, wanted in connection to the fire investigation. Firefighters raced to the blaze at around 6 a.m. that day and found bystanders trying to rescue the resident from the home, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service said previously. Firefighters were able to pull the person through a window, who was taken to hospital in stable condition. A bystander was treated at the scene for a minor injury. Police ask anyone with information, or potentially relevant dashcam, security or cellphone video from around the time of the incident, to call major crimes detectives at 204-986-2426 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 204-786-8477.
TEEN CHARGED IN TAXI STABBING
Winnipeg police have charged a 16-year-old in the stabbing of a taxi driver last month. Investigators say the teen boy was a passenger in the cab when the argument broke out and the driver was stabbed. The suspect fled and the driver went to hospital on his own and was treated for serious upper body injuries. The teen has been charged with assault with a weapon and failing to comply with a sentence. He remains in custody.
