June 25, 1956 - October 20, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bonita ‘Bonnie’ Harvie (nee Kersey) beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend. On October 20, 2026 at the age of 70 years Bonita passed away peacefully at Lions Manor Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Bonita was predeceased by her husband Gary of 47 years, her parents, Elmer and Effie Kersey, her sister Floretta and brothers, Robert and Brian as well as her son-in-law Trevor Hoilett. Left to mourn her passing are her children, Tracy and Christopher, her grandchildren, Jalen, London, Dayton and Mia, her sisters, Sheila (Mike) and Valencia, her brother Brett and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bonita was born in Windsor, Ontario on June 25, 1956. She married Gary in 1978, and they moved their family to Winnipeg in 1980. Bonita worked as a housekeeper for the Wellington Retirement Residence for over 30 years. Bonita or Bonnie, as she was better known, loved volunteering on the social committee with the seniors she worked with. She and Gary also spent countless hours as volunteers for the Royal Canadian Legion. Together they enjoyed travelling and spending time with friends.

After developing dementia at a very young age, Bonita went to live at Lions Manor PCH where the nurses and health care aids became an extended family for both Bonita and Gary who visited her almost daily until his passing on December 15, 2025. The family wishes to thank the staff at Lions Manor for their extraordinary care, kindness and patience.

A small gathering will be held to spread Gary and Bonita’s ashes in a Memorial Garden so that they may be reunited together forever.
